Default Out of Province Inspection

Hello,

After searching the threads I haven't been able to find my specific question.

I'm looking to buy a 2007 Nightster 1200. The owner has put Vance and Hines short pipes on the bike. This bike is registered and insured in British Columbia. I need to bring it back to Alberta, hence the out of province inspection.

Should I be buying stock OEM exhaust for the bike so the inspection passes? Of course the owner sold his stock exhaust.

Has anyone ever had an out of province inspection? What are some common things that fail an inspection?

Thanks!

There should not be an issue with the pipes, as long as there is no visible alterations with them. Most common failures are the brakes, lighting and horn. Check online for provincial safety restrictions for motorcycles for a safety check list. I remember when I needed to get my softtail done years ago with Big Shot 3 on it. the safety inspector didn't even pay attention to the pipes just to make sure they were bolted on properly.

My friend does out of province; usually common safety items fail as was noted. Turn signals can be an issue on some "customs". Depending on where you're going for the inspection it wouldn't hurt to just ask beforehand...

If you're Calgary I had an inspection done at Cycle City last year and they were pretty easy to deal with.

I believe any Canadian Tire store will do this, not much to it.

Mine passed no prob with V&H longshots on it. As said already they are more concerned with the safety aspect like lights & brakes. dosent hurt to call ahead and be sure though. Good luck

I'll give cycle city a shout too!

A chopped rear fender won't raise any concerns eh? Along with 1 rear view mirror.

the issues my friend had during his inspection were signal lights, horn, and no baffles in his pipes. He put in a cheap set of baffles in the parking lot and passed. The inspection was done at a Harley dealership.
