You are not alone, I have that same phobia.
It is true that traction lessens when the ground is
wet, but you can take turns pretty safely at normal
turning speed. You just have to be easy on the throttle.
I personally do not ride in the rain at all anymore not
because of fear of falling I just don't want my bike to get wet.
Oh and I don't like to get wet either.

You'd be amazed at how well your motorcycle can handle rain and wet pavement, but oil slicks and road marking paint make things problematic, not to mention visibility issues. That said, I've ridden at 70+ MPH on the Parkway with a faired bike and rainsuit in (relative) comfort.
On the other hand, Life is difficult enough, let alone getting cold and wet and having to clean road grunge off the bike, so I do my best to avoid it.

+1 ON THAT....i ride in the rain often. living in south fl it is just normal. i can go out on a beautiful day and by 1 pm the clouds and rain roll in. i just lowered my windshield so that i can see in heavier rains. there have been times with my old 14" shield that i had to look around the side of the shield to see the road....truth is that if riding in the rain worries you...don't do it. i tell my son all the time, just because i can take a turn at 60 mph, you don't have to. we all have different riding abilitys and skills. don't ride outside your comfort zone and you will be fine.

You just go at tbe speed you are comfortable with.
If that means going around corners in 1st then screw everyone behind you in a cage. They have 4 wheels.
Where we live we have a lot, and I mean a LOT, of narrow hairpin u bends as you come down the mountains and hills and I'm sure sometimes there are people walking past me faster but I go at my own speed.
Try and avoid the towns in the rain as a lot of the streets are granite cobble stones. They're fun in the wet :/
