Default Key Fob Battery Change Frequency

How often should one change the battery in the key fob? Annually? I'd hate to get stuck somewhere because I failed to change the battery.

Annually. I got stuck at Street Vibrations a couple of years ago. Not a battery on the shelves anywhere. Luckily my sons were able to help me with the code which I had in my wallet, so in the end, I got home.

the manual says to change it annually. i change mine when it dies. that's usually somewhere between 2.5 or 3 years.

getting stuck somewhere because your fob battery dies is about as silly as getting stuck somewhere with no shoes. learn how to set and use the override code and it won't be an issue.

that will also help if you get stuck in an area that has rf interference and won't let your bike recognize your fob. instead of pushing an 800+ lb bike around the parking lot looking for an area where the interference is gone (not like you can see radio waves ), you can just use your thumbs.

I changed mine this year for first time in about 2 years. I concur with others here and keep a spare battery in the tourpak. But for sure learn the manual override for the security procedure. The best thing I've done is actually use it a few Times a year to keep it fresh in my mind. Purposely walk to the bike without the fob and use the procedure to start it at least a couple of times a year. Then when or if you ever actually NEED it out on the road you'll be comfortable doing it.

I've had mine 2 years and I've changed it twice but I keep a spare battery on me, just in case.

I usually change mine every other year. Its a good idea to learn your security override code and if the battery fails or if you lose the fob, you'll be good to go.

Thanks for the reminder. Ned to change out my two. I did learn the thumb code way. Pretty easy to do.

I noticed as the battery got low, there would be a couple second delay when I would turn on the ignition, or the bike alarm lights would start flashing when I stood the bike up before starting.
