Default The Prodigal Queen Returns - Wiser and Poorer

I have been lax in my postings in recent months, but you, my friends, have not been forgotten. I have searched for answers from the experts on this forum many times in the last half year. I have anonymously garnered advice on numerous topics ranging from "why my running light works and my brake light doesn't" to "how to ship my bike across county" and a host of other questions I had. Thank you for your assistance, even though you weren't aware you provided it. That being said, I wanted to take a minute and tell you what I learned.

My $800 Schuberth helmet hurts my ears. I prefer the $100 G-Max I bought from Amazon. The additional Bluetooth communication system for the aforementioned "crazy expensive helmet" is useless if you like to think when you ride.

My deerskin gloves from Foxcreek are totally the Best Gloves Ever. They keep my hands warm while allowing my fingers the movement a good pair of gloves should provide. They also make amazing jackets.

My $99 chaps from leatherup.com are functional, warm, and cute as hell. The $300 HD chaps are thin and no where near as cute. (Although, HD makes a hell of a sexy ladies riding boot.)

I have yet to visit a HD Dealership in my travels where I wasn't greeted with a smile, an offer of refreshment, and a total understanding of customer service. I am not speaking of service departments, as I have not had to have repairs through a dealership.

There is some fantastically amazing and awe inspiring scenery out west and a motorcycle is the most perfect mode of transport for experiencing it.

It really is a dry heat.

There are nice people everywhere, and there are psychos where you least expect it.

Ladies, trust your instinct.

And lastly, I'm glad to be back home.

Helmets are a touchy item and hope you did not order the crazy overly priced one online. I have about a dozen and some I have been able to make suitable by compressing the foam by hand in the irritable spots.

Regarding Fox Creek, yeah they make great stuff but I have yet to find a need for any of their gloves as I have too many others. I do have one of their jackets and a pair of chaps that are top notch. It doesn't hurt that I live just about an hour away from Independence so not a bad nor unpleasant ride from home.

I see you claim NC as home but have been traveling out west? Would be curious to hear details about your travels. In any case happy trails and keep the shiny side up. Just one of the psycho's....

I live about 1.5 hours from the store. It's a nice ride for me also. The helmet and communication system were a gift. The helmet is nice and I'm sure it's very safe. It's just not worth the money, in my opinion.

It sounds like you've been out having fun. I'm glad you arrived home safely.

What town is the Fox Creek store in? I'll be in NC in July and if it's near my planned route I would like to visit it.

Thanks for the insight on the helmet, though I've tried them on at Iron Pony

Helmet insight is good. I agree with you about people. I find nice people all the time but every once in awhile the odd pyscho pops up. Too many people buy a pig without a poke. I almost always think that is a disaster waiting to happen.
