Default Thread size?

Anybody know what thread pitch/size and whether it's American or metric on the clutch cable where it screws into the clutch release cover?

2012 WG 103 motor.
I need to run a tap down them to clean them up and hate to run the wrong one down., looks like 5/16 x 24 but it doesn't feel right.

Tia.

I'll try again, the pitch gage I have says 5/16ths 24 should be it, the tap starts hard.
I'd like to make sure I have the right tap before munching the threads and ending up at HD buying a new cover.

Allen ... Use a thread chaser first ... a tap will cut new threads and remove too much material.
