So I will be leaving later this year for a 7 month deployment. Is it alright to leave a battery connected for that length of time and if so is this a good one for that purpose? Reading the reviews it seems some of left batteries connected to this charger over winter storage. Thanks

I own both the tender plus, and the tender Jr. Either one will do what you want.
This tender should work fine, I even use the Jr. Tender over the winter. This is what they are made for, to keep the battery charged over time.

If you don't like the idea of leaving it plugged in unattended while your gone I'd bet a local dealer or Indy would hold the battery on a tender for you while your deployed.
Stay safe and thank you for your service

Doesn't do anything better than the $20 Schumacker tender at Walmart. Once in a while I get them for $18 at Farm and Fleet.
