Default Fuel Octane question

Hello all. Yesterday I picked up a 2000 Dyna Super Glide and traded in my 2001 Sporty 1200C for it. I was told to only put 91 Octane and above in the Sporty. What can I put in the Dyna? I dont have a manual to ask.

I stopped putting premium in mine after the first 6 months and I've never noticed any difference between it and regular.

It's not carved in stone,, but they recommend the high octane.
It's about efficient fuel use because of compression ratio's not performance.

If you want to save the $ difference between regular and premium, give the regular a try. You'll know pretty quickly if your motor doesn't like it. You'll get pinging under load, and/or when it gets hot. You might want to run it low on whatever you have now, then put in 1/2 tank of the regular. Then if your ride doesn't like it, you have less to burn off.

Also, IMHO stick with major fuel company gas. They tend to have better additives, and maintain their fuel tanks and filters better. Again..this is my opinion...your mileage may vary.

I use 93 but I realize some places only have 91.

Totally agree with this. Try to use "top tier" gas if possible. I prefer Chevron (so of course they closed all their stations in my state) or Exxon/Mobil.

i try to put a higher grade in our bikes, but the lower grade doesnt seem to hurt.. i like to use chevron and 76, it is better gas all the way around i think..... i refuse to put arco, bp, or costco in any of my vehicles, around here i find it to be garbage gas

I run Shell V-Power in my bikes, Impala SS, and two Camaros. Works well for me.

highest octane you can get. you can have spark knock going on and not even know it. you can put the hurt on an engine pretty quickly. that said you don't need racing fuel, 93 fine

I'm envious of anyone that can get better than 91 octane, that we are limited to in Commyfornia. I could get 92 in Oregon, and that seemed to be the difference between no pinging under load...
