Looking to upgrade
I currently have a 1999 road glide with 16,000 miles that I am contemplating selling. I just came across a 2010 super glide custome with 9800 miles. I have only had the road glide so would this be a good upgrade? I know that they are 2 different styles but any input would be appreciated.
Thanks
Thanks

Thanks for the input, couple things. Few of the reasons I was thinking of selling my road glide. From what I have been told you can no longer get parts for the fuel system so if something goes wrong the whole system needs to be replaced. The cam tensioner issue that should be upgraded to hydrolic from the spring. That's a few grand in those two. Plus it is 16 years old and I get the feeling that it could be a time bomb. I don't take long rides, mostly days with my dad and his victory. If we hit the highway he hits 6th gear and cruises about 70, I top out at 5th gear and at 70 it's not as much cruising as it is screaming. My wife use to ride but with a 2 year old she hasn't rode the past 2 years and probably won't for the next few either so the comfy 2 up isn't as important right now. I did sit on the super glide and for my build and longer legs it was more stretched out and appears to be a little more comfortable (again only sitting on it for 2 minutes) then my road glide which seems to sit higher and not as stretched out. Guess it wouldn't hurt to take the super glide for a test ride.

IMHO, I'd stick with the RG. I'm not aware of any fuel system issues. It's a carb, just clean and rebuild as necessary. No biggie, unless I'm missing something. The cam tensioners are an issue that needs to be addressed. An indy shop quoted me $1200-$1500 several years ago, so yea you're gonna spend some money there unless you are good at turning wrenches. Other than that, the 88 twinkie was a good engine that should do you good for a long, long time. As far as 70 mph in 5th gear, **** I do that with my 6 speed. Several of my friends don't ever use their 6th gear, and I only use it if I'm gonna be doing 80+mph for extended periods of time, say I-90 in South Dakota for 5 hrs or so.
If it were me, I'd replace the cam tensioners and plan on driving it another 10 years, but that's my humble opinion.
If you really want to change up for a new look or something different, and the super glide is what you want, then that is a whole different issue. And I'd say if that's the bike you want to ride, then go for it.
