Default Noise Reduction Needed!

I need help.

After 1,000 km this weekend and another 400 km today, my head is worn and my ears are much worse off than they were before I left three days ago.

I drove 140-160 on the autobahn and on the freeway without a fairing and the noise is horrible. Mainly due to the wind noise but also the exhaust (I do love that sound when I'm not going that fast for a long period of time)

What do I do? Quiet helmet? Noise reduction headphones? ...?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Rex

Very simply put, why are you not wearing ear plugs? I couldn't ride around the block without them in, the wind noise is very damaging to your hearing. It's not the pipes, it's the wind noise that does the harm.

I wear earplugs that are made for shooting. That with my 3/4 helmet with a face shield, cuts down on a whole lot of noise. In fact, if my wife is standing in front of me, talking, I can't hear her. But riding, I can still hear a little wind noise.

Thanks for your input. I did buy a set of earplugs but they don't really work. I figured all ear plugs are like that. What ear plugs can you recommend? Any tips for fitting ear plugs correctly?

Yep, earplugs. Best ones I have found are the Ace Hardware 3M brand. Very good noise reduction and they are cheap to replace.

I'm using some custom molded ear plugs for both motorcycling and shooting but I also use the Howard Leight Laser Lite ear plugs as well. You can get a 200 count box on Amazon for $20, that's some cheap money for effective and comfortable ear plugs.

Howard Leight also makes disposable foam ear plugs that are great. I use them when mowing or taking a long ride. Trick is to get them squished really small, insert and hold them in while they are expanding. No worries about dirty ear plugs.

First off ear plugs are not ear plugs buy good ones and I took small thick pieces of foam and glued them to the helmet part that touches my ear it really helps the small piece of foam helps with the ear plugs...cool part is I hear the bike better now as all the wind is blocked
