Switching over to hyd cam plate, cam question.
I bought a SE cam plate, oil pump, chains and sprockets for my 2005 RK.
I will need to buy a pair of conversion cams.
The bike is a 1550 with SE heads, SE 203 cams, Rinehart true duals and a Baker 6 speed.
It runs good, pulls hard down low ( I do like to cruise the highway 2 up at 2200 rpm in 6th) and runs out pretty good too.
It has 195 psi compression on both cylinders, but doesn't seem to care much what grade fuel I use. When the engine is cold I can hear a bit of pinging (regardless of fuel grade used, although I have not tried 86 now that its got hot out) but after a mile or so it goes away. I have quieter baffles in the Rinehards, so its not really loud but I worry that its pinging and I can't hear it.
The plugs show a little bit of pinging evidence but not much.
Anyway.... I was leaning towards The Andrews 54 conversion cams.
The Woods TW-6h would probably work a bit better but I'm the sort that valve train noise would drive me crazy.
Your opinions please.

I believe you can run SE cams with the SE cam plate. When I did my 95" build, I used an OEM Harley 96" cam plate, hyd tensioners and 96" oil pump. I installed Andrews 24N "Conversion" cams. Those cams fit the 3/4" inner cam bearings of the TC88, and have the big outer end that rides in the 96" cam plate with "parent metal bearings". The inner AND outer cam chains are the stock 96" roller type. I don't know if Andrews still sells the complete kit. I can't recommend a cam grind, but a standard Andrews Harley cam may be what you need.

Yup. If you're using the SE plate, you don't want conversion cams. You want cams that are made for the TC 88. The conversion or "N" cams are for the complete Andrews kit, which uses a TC 96 plate. As for the grind...your call. You could put your 203s right back in it if you want to.
The plate I have is a SE for a 96-103, its not the hybrid plate. I'm going to need conversion cams for it to work.

I'll need conversion cams. I added a picture of my cam plate to ease the confusion.
