Default 08 Road Glide motor work??????

I'm looking to purchase a 2008 road glide that has its motor upgraded to a 106 with 585 cams. All my friends say don't do it, Harley's with upgraded motors stay in the shop. I would like to get as much feedback on this as possible. I've never owned a Harley but been looking to purchase one, don't want to spend 15k on a bike that has the purtential to break down anytime soon, so please don't hold back, fire away!!!!!!!

If its been done right, not abused terribly, and tuned properly, I wouldn't be scared of it.

The trick is finding out the answers to the above questions.

my cammed 103 has given me 15k trouble free miles. its all dependent on the build and how its treated.

my 1st thought is 15K for an 08 RK is tooo much..

then I'd want to know who did the work..and when,.

lots of 103 BB kitted 96''ers with cams out there that have been trouble free for K's and K's of miles, but as said above-- if its not been beaten to death.

Even a stock engine that's been really rode hard could give an owner a lot of problems also.

Lot's of good advice above.

Being that it will be your first,I would go with a newer stock bike.

Agree with the post above.

Try to stay stock or "close to stock".

I agree the price is on the high side, book value on an 08 Anniversary RG is going to be around 13K.

If the motor work was done by a reputable guy and not abused you should be fine. But like others have said finding out that info may be tricky
