Default Anybody ever had a cracked head pipe brazed

So i have 9 days befor i leave for and one of my bikes have a crack in the head pipe. Its a rinehart true dual system and rinehart has no inventory. Plus they are trying to sell me a full header kit because they say my system is the old system from bub and theheat shields wont fit, due to some change that they made. Another person said i may be able to have the crack brazed and it would be fine, but i need to make the repair before leaving for sturgis....anyone else have any experience with brazing

I am getting ready to put my son on the bike and have him ride it 2300 miles to sturgis. I really dont feel like having a breakdown trying to get out there. It isnt that i dont physically have the 600 for the header kit, its that i dont want to spend that much if there is a viable alternative. So i am just asking if anyone out there has had this done

a good welder can fix it.

the chrome isn't going to survive very well but it will be functional

any welder can fix that, even with a coat hanger and torch, many exhaust systems been done that way. Tig would be best, wire feed after that. I would do it for you but Im on the other coast.

Had a weld break on my Fuelmoto head pipe, the local tool and die welder fixed it. That was at least 15k ago, no issues. I'd be looking for a good welder before buying new parts, you may see something you like better in Sturgis anyways.

Agreed simple cracks can be welded easy enough. And can be done on the bike.

You gonna ride it or tow it ? Trailered the temp will get you by you gonna ride you'll lose the pipes eventually it will crack again and if you don't catch it fast it will travel. Been there with a few partners over the years and unless it's all perfectly fitted and somebody who knows what they are doing does the repair it won't hold and yours has cracked odds are somethings not right or out of alignment already.
