1975 xlch oil expansion???
a "relative" bought a iron head (Think it is an iron head) decades ago and hasn't ridden it in decades has been cranking it over every now and then mostly sits on a battery charger with a pan under it to catch oil.
Anyway "they" say there are a couple of issues : number 1 the clutch is sticking???
And number 2; there seems to be more oil in it then "they" put in it, it had been blowing out a hole in the bottom of the crank case but know seems to build up inside.

The clutch is sticking because it has been sitting and the plates have become oil saturated. I used to have to take mine apart to clean the clutch plates if it sat for a long time.
Almost certainly the bike is not manufacturing oil. Probably just everything in the tank has run down into the sump.

Clutch sticking- make sure the cable works and is adjusted. Make sure the cable isn't seized. Check primary chain oil level. Try rocking bike back and forth with the clutch disengaged, it may break the clutch plates free.
Oil overfull- check oil when engine is hot like after a ride. Then ajust level. If it was on the high side cold it may "expand" when hot. Make sure there is oil pressure if you can to be sure the oil is actually circulating properly. As far as oil blowing out the bottom, I think the chain drive Sportsters had a chain oiler that may need topped off, then oil will start leaking out the bottom again. Just my $.02. If I am incorrect someone will chime in on this.
