Default Just want to introduce myself

Hi everyone,

I'm Michelle. I'm actually here for a very specific purpose. My husband has loved bikes all of his life, but he is a very practical guy and would never get himself one. This year is our 15th wedding anniversary and I really want to get him something special, so I am looking into getting him a HD (because it is obviously the best if you're going to get a bike). My problem is that aside from the very recognizable brand name, I am at a loss to know which model to actually get. I would love to hear some feedback on which model would be the best to go for, because I clearly don't really know much about this.

I thought of just fishing around and asking him questions to guage his preference, but I don't want to ruin the surprise.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome from PA. It depends on the type of riding he will be doing and if you will be going along.

If you are going for long two up rides you may look at a touring model. If he will be putting around town with only occasional two up riding a softail would be a good fit.

If not long term touring, say out of Florida..Then I would say even though i have a Ultra Classic...The COOLEST I think is the Road King Classic in Black with big white walls !!!! Cool old Harley Davidson nostalgic look and plenty comfy, solo or two up. Ya got one Lucky guy

I don't think they make The Classic anymore with the leather bags with buckles...THEY were the coolest ..new one would be Softail Deluxe...Big ole whietwalls

Welcome from Maryland. Unless you are planning on 2-up touring I would go softail. Maybe a Heritage softail Classic. It's got bags for your stuff.

You might try and do an impromptu trip near the local HD dealer and suggest stopping for the heck of it. Just watch what he looks at and likes to get an idea.

Welcome to the H-D Forums from Idaho ! ENJOY !
Michelle, I'm going to move your post out to the general forums so you might get some better answers.
Also how big of a guy is your husband, & what does he like to do? Like to travel, ride around town, & are you wanting to ride with him?
You might like a big touring bike, but that is a hard area to start out in. Big & heavy bikes.
Lots of things go into buying a bike. Might be the best idea to just take him down to a big Harley showroom & tell him to pick one out. (or maybe one for you also?)
Be Safe !
