Default Getting through Chicago?

I'm considering taking a trip to the Harley museum next year. I live in Michigan and I was thinking about making a big circle across the UP then down through Chicago. My question is this, Is there a decent way to get through or around Chicago?

Stay off I-90, your best bet would be to take 294 south to where it joins with 80 in Indiana, then continue east that way. Going through downtown Chicago on 90 is brutal at almost all times. Plus tolls on the Skyway where 90 crosses into Indiana are crazy expensive.

It's simple, from Michigan to Wisconsin, 94 west- 80 west- 294 North- rejoin 94 in north burbs. Remember there is also Sunday afternoon rush hour west bound.

Spoken by a "local resident" :>) ... I've been through the Chicago area ( Chicago is cool, the Interstate/Toll roads are brutal though ) and it only took TWO trips to realize that I wasn't going back for a third. AM, PM, Weekends, it just ain't any place that you want to be on a scooter.

i guess.. I'd be scared of NY & LA before Chicago is all I'm sayin. ride defensively and its like any other congested highway. kinda like 90 by Sturgis will be this year. no different. maybe better even.
