Default HAIL in SD......

I really wanted to attend Sturgis again this year but couldn't due to having a newborn Son.

Kinda glad I'm not seeing all the hail SD is getting this year, brings back nightmares from my 2009 trip there to the 69th Sturgis. $9300 worth of damage to my tow vehicle and the expensive Areosmith concert ended quickly when Steven fell off the stage at the Chip.

Everyone that is there or making the trip be safe!

You can count on getting at least one good thunderstorm, and hail. The only question is what size will the hail be.

In the past week I've looked at their webcam, it's rained twice already.

Yesterday was riding in a huge storm from lusk to New Castle and then steady rain all the way to deadwood , missed the hail outside of Newcastle , but saw it on the rode , just glad traffic was very busy yet . There is a good crowd already here in deadwood .

2003, hail coming down from Mt Rushmore, we pulled over and ducked into the woods. We were getting killed with marble sized hail. Figure about 8 bikes pulled over, not all with us.

LEO pulls over and tells us we can not hang in the woods next to the road, "it is not safe"?!?!?!?! But riding a bike in the hail, that is OK?

Well it let up a little while we talked to LEO, turned out a bar was only another 2 miles down the road. Long wet day all the way back to the camp ground. No one had a helmet, windshield or rain gear.

GREAT DAY!!

My friends reported that on Facebook, they only had to ride a few more miles to their hotel. It looked nasty.. Be safe if you going.

I have some buddies there right now that I went with 2 years ago. They are staying at the La Quinta in Rapid City (where we stayed last time) and got under the hotel awning just before the hail started yesterday. That would hurt like a **** riding into that stuff and could knock your *** out.
