Default Who's got bad back, discs or degeneration...?

Man I have been dealing with level 3 degenerative disc disease for about a year now.
Seen 6 different spine and neurologists and all conclude no operation can be done because of the level of degeneration.

Al I know is pain is off the scale which makes ridin a no no.

Anyone else have back pain and how do you deal with the pain on rides.

Thanks.

I have the same thing in one disc in the lower back, although possibly not as severe as yours, mine is about half as thick as it should be. I rode street bikes that forced me to lean forward a bit while keeping the back straight. The FZ1 was perfect for no pain riding while cruisers would within 5 miles start causing pain. Since then, I have lost some weight and exercised, and make sure I do stomach crunches regularly. This past Saturday I rode about 300 miles on a nightster without any of that familiar back pain.

I had a microdiscectomy last April to remove a ruptured disc. L5-S1 disc. I was in serious pain, couldn't get around very quickly for about 6 months. Had the surgery and I was running 4 miles a day by August. Gave that up for winter though. I was riding within 3 weeks of surgery. Feel much better now. I think I need to get forward controls though, because I feel a little tightness in the back after riding 100 miles or so wheras I didn't with my Sporty w/ fwd controls. Stretching and exercising definitely help.

I injured my back about 4 years ago doing some roofing on our hunting camp. It seems like it never really heals once you hurt it. Some days are better than others, but theres always some degree of pain there. Even when I ride, I still need to get off every 2 hours or so and stretch, to give my back a rest.

Sciatica and degenerative arthritis of the cervical spine - exercise and lots of "vitamin I" - prescription ibuprophen and butt breaks every couple of hours!

Same thing, 1 disc. Some days riding is not an option. On the days I do ride, I stop and stretch every hour or so, seems to help.

i've got degenerative discs at L4, L5 & S1. had surgery a year and half ago which did nothing to improve it. so i'm basically in year FIVE of living with pretty constant back pain and left leg sciatica. yoga seemed to be the only thing that helped a little, but even there i would have to take it easy and try not to stress the left leg or else risk causing another "attack" on the left sciatic nerve, which, if you've ever felt on, you know what i'm talking about - all the muscles cramp at once and it feels like your leg is about to explode. a full 10 on the pain meter...

the drugs i've taken and am still taking are:
lyrica
neurontin
keppra
kadian
flexiril
percocet
endocet
oxycodone
hydrocodone
tamazapan
methocarbomol
methadone
and a few others...
