Default Greetings From Australia

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum and new to the world of Harley Davidsons. Actually, I don't have one yet but I'm learning about them and trying to decide which model will best suit my riding style. I've been riding for 30 years and done the sports bike thing, sports tourer thing and the dual sport thing but I think it's time for the Harley thing. Strangely, these days the only bikes that look "right" to me are Harleys so there must be a message in that. Looking forward to getting advice and opinions about the different bikes and maybe one day soon I'll have my own.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Steve

Welcome from Maryland. If its for long distance look at the touring line. If it's just a bar hopper then Sportster, Dyna, or softail. If you want a combo bar hopper/touring then look at the Heritage Softail or Road King. Both have good storage, but also removable windscreens for around town riding.

Welcome and good luck in your search! HD dealers are pretty good about offering bikes to demo ride. I would try and narrow down your choice to one or two frames and demo a couple. One thing to look at is ground/cornering clearance because some "feature" reduced length suspensions.
Two of my current favorites are Road King ( obviously), and Dyna Low Rider. If you ride with a passenger a lot it's hard to beat one of the tourers with a trunk/backrest. Regardless you've come to the right place because there's a wealth of information on this forum!

Welcome. The only thing I can say is that buying the bike is the cheapest part of riding a Harley...you will understand this once you buy one...LOL.

G'day mate. Welcome to the forum. You'll find about everything you could ever want to know here.

Based on what you've ridden in the past I'd take a long hard look at one of the FLH bikes. Road King, Street Glide, Electra, etc. They're comfy and have a lot better cornering clearance than softails and dynas do.

Thanks. So I've got 2 recommendations for the Road King already which is good because it was on my short list. I like some of the softails too but I'll have to take my time to make sure my choice is the right one. Harleys are so different from anything else I've ridden so I had better not just jump in and buy the prettiest one.
