As a rule I don't purchase extended warranty. However the dealer made me a deal on three years of extended warranty I couldn't refuse provided I purchased the tire and wheel warranty as part of the package, so I did. Last week I went to the garage to go for a ride and noticed I had a flat tire. I called the dealer and they picked up my bike and took it for repair. Ended up a large nail was in the tire to the extent the tire was ruined with 4,888 miles on it. Four hundred and forty dollars later it was all fixed and ready for the road. Balance owed on my part was zero: icon_clapclap:

Better read the fine print, some of those tire warranties require you to use the dealer for all scheduled maintenance.

 

I picked up a screw in my rear tire about a block away from my house coming home from my 5000 mile service. Got a new tire, tube and liner installed and balanced with no out of pocket from me.

 

I have put this coverage on bikes before and have again on my new ride. I have used it twice on a previous bike...once at the dealer where I bought the bike, and once up in DC a couple of years ago when I was at Rolling Thunder. Both times not even an eye was blinked and the tires were replaced with zero cost. What's more...my trade in for my current bike still had a couple of years worth of coverage...and the pro-rated cost is being refunded to me.

 

I always buy the tire and wheel warranty. Working in construction I'm always picking
up nails or something. Never had one bit of problems with a claim. Best warranty money I ever spent..

 

With the tire & wheel coverage, do you have to get tires replaced at a Harley dealer when they just need replacing not damaged. Or, can you use tires from a discount dealer or on line?

 

Yeah, this! I've saved enough changing my own oil over the last 20k to buy several tires.

 

Well mine sure doesn't, and yes I've read the fine print.

 

The tire and wheel warranty paid for itself many times over in the five years I had it ending August 2014. had more than a few flat tires and the rear tire on my Ultra cost $430 out the door to change. After it expired I didn't get around to renewing it, and this spring I had another rear flat 5 miles from home. I had the bike towed to my house with AAA, took it off and had an indy fix it. I saved about $100 doing it this way. I then renewed for 7 years at about $900 and within a week got yet another flat. I had it towed to my house with my AAA coverage then a couple days later had to towed to a dealer and fixed both at no cost. Now I'm out of pocket $500 for the warranty and have 6 years 11 months to go.


Works for me.

 

I think you do have to use oem tires but I'm not sure! Always had mine towed to the dealer.
