Default 1993 Heritage Classic

A friend of mine just bought a 1993 Heritage Softail off his uncle. However, the front end is standard (when I say standard I'm saying it appears to be a softail custom/standard front end) not the dresser type fender and wheel. He said that his uncle told him him the bike is factory and that Harley made a limited amount modeled this way. I had not heard this and I have been trying to research it with no luck. Can someone she's some light?

Not a Heritage unless it was in a wreck and parts were changed.

Need to check the VIN to see what it is/was. The tank emblems are correct for 93...the front end is mostly FL...has tins, cowbells and 7" headlight and FL light bar...which would have came on a heritage.

That's where I am at with it... It has to be after market or custom...

I agree with Tom. The 5th and 6th digits of the VIN will be "BJ" if it left the factory as a Heritage.

So I am concluding from your comments that harley did not set up heritages with this front end from the factory....?

The actual front end is correct...as are the floorboards...the 21" front tire, front fender and the rear fender are not, and the emblem on the tank is from an 93 fxstc and appear to be original paint...which seems weird that it would have correct 93 sheetmetal if it was done later...is the beginning of the VIN 1HD1BJ ? What does it say on the air filter? You can call harley and get information on the bike.

Nope, they did not.

Like Tom said, the basic front end looks like it could be a Heritage, but the larger wheel and front and rear fender are not. The VIN will tell you exactly what model it is, or at least started out as.

Thank you for all the replies...the beginning VIN is 1HD1BJL... And the the air cleaner cover does say Heritage Softail.... And when I stated front I was speaking in generalities...the headlight tins, and general front end looks FL but the wheel, tire and fender do not...

Looks like bike started life as a Heritage. PO swapped out FX softy tins and 21" front wheel. Not factory.
