Default HD hi flow ac question

I purchased this used and cleaned it. But, I am not sure if its the dry type or K&N oiled type. Any ideas? Plus, I have no idea the amount of miles on it, but after cleaning it looks decent and I can see light through it. Does it look ok? Or should I just replace it.

Thanks for checking it out.

That looks like a K&N filter. Looks okay from the pictures. Oil it up and go for a ride.

If you're not sure and need a little more piece of mind you could always replace it though.

To my knowledge, all HD filters are dry,, Do Not use Air Filter Oil is repeated a few times in my manual.

A063A4 appears to be a K&N number.

Default HD hi flow ac question

It's made by K&N for Harley as part of a stage 1 upgrade. The K & N branded version of it comes with a rubber gasket on the lip and has a different number, HD-0800.

See that was a nice helpful reply, not some off the cuff dick head comment.

You are correct in that almost all filters that come on a Harley originally are dry filters and do not use oil. They are stamped with "Do not use oil" and have the Harley logo. Sometimes they are also stamped on the metal center part with the HD p/n.

K&N replacement filters should be oiled before use. Sometimes, but not always, they are stamped with the K&N logo. The number on the one above looks like a process number used by K&N, but that particular filter would likely have a different actual p/n. Also, the same filter can have a different p/n depending on who it is supplied to. It can also have a slightly different appearance.

No, it is not stamped as the OEM Harley filters are. It is not a paper OEM Harley filter.
