Check out the local shops in your area. Should be able to get yours rebuilt at an alternator-starter shop.

have it rebuilt. alternator-starter shops can do it. no need to buy a new one. it may only need new brushes, if you have the ability to take the starter off yourself you should be able to put in new brushes.

Its probably just the brushes. Get the starter out and its a couple a min job and will prob cost less than $20 including shipping to rebuild it yourself. If you want to take it somewhere I know the places around me want like $150 bucks to do what I just talked about above. Food for thought.

Oh and when you say the starter is shot do you hear a click when you push the button or nothing at all?

Hi, where about are you on the Island. I can help you out with your starter if you want? I am not a shop, but I am always messing around on bikes. Let me know.

He said he is totally clueless on all things bikes and asks how to buy things online and everyone is recommending that he repair the starter himself. Really?
