I purchased a '15 Ultra Classic in May. When I get in the road for distances of 50 miles or greater, it blows oil out of the breather. I have been told by dealer its normal. However, my '13 never did that and my recent trip to Sturgis I lost a half quart. This cannot be NORMAL. Suggestions welcome in cause and options?

What did the dipstick read? Was it possibly overfilled?

Ummm, maybe you should have kept the '13? There is something to be said for bonding with a bike, knowing it won't let you down. And, if it does you know what the problem will probably be.... because you have riding it for awhile, ya know?. Don't really understand why some have to trade in after year two... you know you have to break in a whole new bike! right?!!!

No, they are not all the same.

Check the oil on the side stand not standing straight up. Oil level should be between add and full mark no more. Check hose on air intake and make sure they haven't come off. If the air filter has oil on it clean or replace it depending on the type.

I agree, you might try this idea as a starter.

When you gave up on your '13 to buy a '15 did you bother to read the owner's manual to see if there are any differences in fluid checks? Maybe the '15's oil is checked on the jiffy stand, and when the engine is cold the oil is halfway up the checked markings on the dipstick. If it's at full when cold, guess where the oil might go. I've never said this to someone, but RTFM. If the oil is at the required level then address your concerns to the dealer, if your dealer won't tend to it then take it to another dealer. Good luck.

That pretty much says it all.

This is the reason I've heard the most in this situation.

Bottom line is this is not normal, or "the nature of the beast"!!! Find out what oil level your new bike likes fill to that level and ride....
