I am interested in getting a C&C solo seat for my 2013 street glide and I trying to decide if I need to get the gel inserts put in and wanted to know if it was worth it. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

 

C&C seat will offset with a adapter plate from where your original seat sits. I run one, but, I was a little disgruntled with the adapter offset, I thnk Mustang does the same. Had I did it all over, I would have had the original seat redone to my specs. Don't get me wrong, I like C&C, they provide a kik butt saddle, but not a kik butt solo for the later years.

 

Their Sporttour on my FXD is all day comfortable. No gel inserts...

C&C is great to deal with & will build you a nicely decked out "custom" seat for very reasonable.

Can't tell you any more than that, but am a satisfied customer.

 

I have a C&C Wide Solo with no gel and love it. Very comfortable seat.

 

Keep your eyes open in the Classified Section here. Tons of Solo seats come up for sale because after a while, nobody wants them any more. JS

 

Get the gel inserts. Bought a C&C solo in July for my 2014 SGS and have over 3,000 miles on it. The stock seat is more comfortable, I can't go more than a few hours without discomfort. Love the look. now I need to see if Mean City will fix it or by something else.

 

no experience with gel here. I did have a c&c solo and loved it.

what I have heard about gel:

it doesn't compress so when you sit on it, it will squish down in some spots, but then squish up in others which can cause 'pressure points' and be uncomfortable.

it holds heat in the summer

it holds cold in the winter

again, this is just what I've heard. if I were to order another (and I would have them on my short list when my stock cvo seat wears out), I would not hesitate to skip the gel, and go with the leather vs. vinyl.

 

I have a C&C seat. Just their run of the mill type in Fastback. I would suggest you talk to them first and tell them you want to be able to ride all day hour after hour and see what they suggest. All I can say about the one I have is it is rock hard and the best I can do is 1 hour on it and I have to get off. I roughed it out for 4,000+ miles thinking at some point it would "break in".

Never happened. If the gel is the only option they suggest I'd say pass on them. Yes they make a great looking seat but I suggest they are for looks only. I finally had my stock seat refinished with Mean City Cycle. I can ride all day now. Not as pretty but looks was not what I was after.

Matter of fact my C&C seat is in the for sale section now.

 

I have a solo and did not get the inserts. I'm pretty happy.
