Default So this "Kid" I work with....

Comes up to me and asks, "What kind of bike is that?"

I say, "Electra Glide".

He says, "Cool, I'm going to test drive a bike like that tomorrow, what should I look for?"

I say, "The obvious and the usual, like anything else you buy. What is it?"

He says, "Not sure it has bags like yours and the other stuff too, and they only want $10K for it".

Again I ask, "What is it?"

He says, "I don't know, its black and gray and sweet!"

I say, "Might be an anniversary edition, what is it?"

He says, "Its a Harley!"

I say, "Well then, you better buy it!"

Does he have to be a "poser", or just someone who don't know? I'm not sure about you guys but I wasn't born with knowledge about Harley Davidson. At one point no one on here knew much about Harley Davidsons and motorcycles.

This kid already rides an old kawi everyday to work. I would think that someone thinking of spending $10K on a bike would at the very least know what he was buying? Needless to say he is not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Come to find out it was a 2009 Ultra. Said he test drove it last night, and it was the biggest POS in his opinion. The radio quit working! Out of the mouths of babes.

I take it by the deleted post, some may think I'm being a bit harsh in this kid. But to be brutally honest, I wouldn't want to share the road with him. I work with him everyday, and yes he most certainly does need help! He's in his mid twenties, but acts like a high schooler, and that's being nice!

Yes we were all green horns at one point in our Harley careers. Hell I didn't even know what an EVO was until I bought mine. But at least I knew I was buying an Electra Glide with a carbureted 1340cc motor, and that it was a fair price compared to the Blue Book value.

I'm as green as horns come. And there aren't many 20-somethings I'd want to ride with.

You have a point here but that same would go for a good portion of people you pass on the road each day.

Its just the world we live in.

So very true! I always say, I got my license in WI, but I learned how to drive in California. Defensive driving is the only strategy out there. Gotta always watch out for the "other" guy.

I really wasn't trying to be a *ick posting this thread. But I can certainly see how it came across that way to some.
