Default Air intake question

I am about to do the Stage 1 upgrade (exhaust & air intake). My question is on the air, i see these ones that you can see the cleaner through the cover; I have been told that these shouldn't be rode in the rain, is that true? I wouldn't think they would sell very many if you couldn't or shouldn't ride them in heavy rain (In SE Louisiana that would limit your ride time). On the other hand it would seem reasonable that a high flow air cleaner with the element exposed would get wet and suck in water to the intake.

A little water ingestion through intake never hurt anything.
Water injection was/is used for power increase.
Humid air in Louisiana means you suck in a lot moisture in anyway.

I've been caught in some pretty heavy stuff and never had a problem and about that time I was more concerned with making sure I was still on the road. By the time it get's bad enough to jack up your air flow I'd be pulled over and under shelter if possible.

Another vote for a rain sock on my SE Heavy Breather. In all of the rain that I've been, it's never let any/enough rain in to do anything to the way it ran.
