MSRP displayed on New Harley Davidson Motorcycles
I live in the tri-state of NY/NJ/CT and have noticed that over the years that some dealers display the MSRP on the new bikes and some do not. The ones that do not most often quote prices well over the MSRP! I know auto makers are mandated to display it by federal law, so are bikes exempt from this? One dealer in my area just started to display it and feel that this decision was not the dealer's! Is the case in most states as feel he have been required to so by the county or state?

I never even looked at the prices to be honest. got approved online for an RKC and never noticed how much till I got there and they hit me with the sum. OUCH. That was a good thing bec If I had known what I was walking blindly into I may not have walked out with the Slim. So its a good/bad thing. Posting the MSRP does keep looky loo's out of sales peoples hair and asking how much? Never buy a damn thing just go from store to store asking How Much? you know the kind I speak of. But no most of our dealers here have 'CALL for Price' they want to talk to you #1 not scare you.

Down here some dealers show prices (some even showing discounts), and some don't. Like antoher poster said, my experience is that the ones who don't post prices are the ones that want to rape you. I always assume that when dealers post MSRP, that you can negotiate down from that. I assume that dealers who don't post prices not only won't negotiate, but will jack up delivery and prep, and demand MSRP or more (hey, you're buying "the experience").

In Atlanta area we have several dealers within an hours drive. Some post prices and some don't. And it's not just an online thing either, some of them don't have price tags on the bikes on the showroom floor.
My personal feelings are that if they don't post a price then they are trying to hide something or pull something shady. Either that or their prices are so inflated they think they won't get people to come in.
And as far as lookie loos go, a good salesperson can identify the true browsers and engage the fence sitters and actually make a sale without resorting to sneaky tricks.
Just for the record and in case any dealers might read this; If I walk into your store and you dont have your bikes, or accessories for that matter, priced, I will NOT spend money with you.
