Default SGS to Ultra

So with 10,000km under my belt I am looking at a trade in already.
Electra Low or Ultra Low.
I ride 50% solo and 50% with the OL on the back but when she is on the back we tend to do 5 or 6 hours in the saddle at a time and that can be just within the Czech Republic.
And then the weekends away or road trips are even longer. In July we were down through the Austrian Alps and into Italy for a week.
We had some friends stay for a week and whilst they were over we rented them an Ultra for the day and we were off out with another rider as well and my OL was asking my friends OL how was the seat on the Ultra and she said she loved it.

So my thought is the Low version of the Ultra or Electra as height wise its only 1” difference with the SGS actually being the taller of the 3.
Obviously there is the extra weight to contend with but my thought was that I am used to riding a bagger now so it is not as if I am going from a 48 to an Ultra. Is there really that much of a difference to riding them?

Will go to local dealer and try them out but obviously a weekend riding is not the same as long term.

Reason for doing it now is that my SGS is less than a year old and has detachable rack and sissy bar plus all the fittings as well as passenger foot pads as opposed to pegs. Its still got 2 years left on the warranty and also has a Sundowner seat. So all in all I should get a pretty good trade in against the new bike so that my monthly payment is around the same. Especially as the dealer said to my mate when he was over and rented the Ultra that as the 2016 stock is now coming in they are trying to move the 2015 stock and so would give him 10% off straight away.

Anyone else had similar experience?

From what I understand the "Low" models have the same rear shocks as the SGS. You could always add a tour Pak and seat to your current bike too unless you are looked my for lowers and trim pieces everywhere.

I think it will be cheaper to add the Tour Pak, lower fairings and larger seat than trading. They are basically the same bike. The ultra just has more stuff added to it.

Thanks guys. Looks like that may well be the way forward. Then that way I dont have all the tour pack and seat for when it is just me riding
