Default fuel line

When I disconnectthe quick release fuel line on the bottom of the tank the gas keeps running out of tank. Should this happen. Is there a bad o ring or is it is a hole in the fuel line, I thought that the gas would stop with out the fuel punp running.Anybody have any ideas. Thanks

No, fuel should not keep running out of the tank.

That quick disconnect fittings is like an air hose fitting, once you disconnect it no flow from either side.

Sounds like you might have a bad o-ring.

If you didn't "purge" the fuel line first (pull the fuel pump fuse, run the motor til it stops), then you might have a bit of fuel spill when you do the disconnect. But it's not much, and should definitely stop after a couple of seconds. If fuel continues to leak out at a steady rate then chances are you've got a problem as already mentioned above. Hope you get it worked out.

Check ball in tank side of quick disconnect not sealing.Need to pull tank, drain it or if fuel left in it, prop it up on right side and pull quick disconnect to check for bad O'ring and inspect unit.Go to Dealer to get the proper O'rings for this repair.Matching up at local auto parts never has good results.

Run a small screw driver up there to dislodge the stuck check ball?

If you disconnect the fitting and fuel is running out of the tank, it's the check valve not the o rings. If it's leaking while connected, it's the o-rings. I'd replace the valve assy. It's not worth messing with. The part is like 40 bucks and comes with a new line to the regulator. (strangely, it does NOT come with the clamp for the end of the new hose) Probably time to change the filter anyway (Before you choke on the price of the filter, go check JP cycles). Get the $6 transfer pump from HF to empty the tank.
