I understand the reason to use a spacer on the lower shock mount to put it out to its original position (except 1" lower), but why space out the top? My bike has the cop bags, the latch has 2 bolts holding it that are are about 1/8 to 3/16 away from the top of the shock. Spacer aint gona work. I want to use the L A Chopper blocks because they don' t change the shock angle, but do not want to space out the bags. Burly lowering blocks are my 2nd choice, but change the shock angle. Anyone with experience in this? The bike is a 2013 flhtp (cop electra glide, same as a flhtc, but different bags).
Caution when using those lowering blocks they've been round a long time and few people keep them on. They change the rear shock angle and makes for much harsher ride, some have had rubbing issues and I've removed several snapped off mounting bolts due to them. Just a heads up.
as twisted said be careful with them things. and which ever ones you do use make sure that you adjust your rear tire and belt tension. i also believe Harley makes lowering block. atleast they use to. best way to lower your bike and improve ride is new rear shocks
I've had them on my 2014 ultra for 14 months now with no problem. 3/8 bushing on the bottom, nothing on top, the blocks must be mounted on the inside if a rushmore model.
I have Burley lowering blocks which have worked well on my 2010 Ultra. The only issue was a slight contact point between the shock and one of my fender strut covers. I was able to press on the strut cover enough with my hand to correct the problem.
