Thumbs down Adding A Second To The Stable?

Here is my dilemma....at my current rate, I'll put 50k miles on my '15 RK in the next year. I'm out 7 days a week watching the asphalt roll underneath me, chasing the sunset after work. I am a newer rider, back after a 30 year hiatus, and I am frigging addicted to that high output 103 purring beneath me like an old lover.

I know I will positively murder the value of it at this rate. I do perform all scheduled maintenance, but there are a finite number of miles a bike will bear.

I CANNOT afford another new big boy sized HD, as the current one has left me bike poor. I am pondering a less expensive metric for my after work therapy and saving the RK for weekends/funeral escort duty.

Anyone else in this position? I cannot bear to NOT be flying on 2 wheels. Yeah, I know, first world problems and all. Suggestions welcome.

If you're "bike poor" how will you be able to afford another bike ???

The money you would spend on another bike should keep your current one going for a long time. The value of you current bike? Are you planning on selling it?

Exactly ... This makes no sense to me what so ever. Maybe I'm gettin' too old?

Why can't you use it all the time? Makes no sense at all.

I waited until my bike needed a top end rebuild at 120K (about 4 years), then bought a second bike to ride while the build was being done. Still have both bikes now.

I've had multiple bikes on the road at the same time since '78. "Variety is the spice of life."

I understand "multiple" scooters ... ( Actually I have 5 .. 2009 FLHTCU, 1979 FXEF, 1986 XT 600 Yamaha set up for the ice, 1982 YZ 490 Woods Bike and a trusty 125 Suzuki for my "Estate in the North" ) I just don't understand the rationale behind his logic. It sure doesn't save money, does it??

holy hell this is another its really a garage queen thread isn't it ? are you freaking joking me ? did Harley or s&s stop making motors ? at this rate i bet you can ride 3 more years till you have to worrie about another motor. it will cost about 10k for a new one installed. sounds to me like your bored with the bike and want something else new because in reality the thrill is gone now. why the hell would you worrie about something like this ?
