Considering a trip at the end of this week..
I am considering a ride to Colorado Springs at the end of this week, staying up there for a week and then coming home to west Texas, 600 miles.
My brother in law is stationed on Peterson Air Force base and he is telling me I will not be able to ride on the base. He would have to get the bike at the gate and take it to his home and do this anytime I wanted to leave or return. I am an old army guy but I don't remember ever having these type of restrictions when I was in ages ago.
Anyone in the area know if this is real or not?
Also, looks like it is going to be cold for this Texas guy, highs in the 60's and lows getting down to the 30's next week. These are December temps for where I am, lol.
Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I was in the navy from 1989-1995. There was a lot of crap you had to go through to bring a bike on base. I am not sure if that applied to guests.
You had to pass their safety course, wear an orange vest with reflectors, and a lot of safety gear. That doesn't even count the stickers and stuff you needed.

Yeah, those I know off, we had to wear reflective vest (which i still have and wear on occasion), safety course proof and legal licence. But as a guest I figured if I have current plates, msf proof and reflective vest and helmet I should be ok.
I never rode on base/post as a civilian, I know the wife would rather I go in the truck with her, but the ride there as well as the scenery around the area would be awesome on the bike.

You Should Be GTG
As long as you have a valid license, insurance, motorcycle safety course card, and are wearing the required safety gear (which is determined by the Wing Commander and different from base to base) you should be GTG. He will have to get you a visitors pass if you are not active/retired, but that's all that's needed. Sounds like someone really wants to ride your bike.

If you are wary of your brother-in-law's motives you can find out for yourself.
