Default spray painting heat shield

i currently have a harley iron 883 with vanes and hines short shots pipes. after a season of riding my pipes are all scuffed up and it just bothers me to look at. i want to spray paint them but I'm not sure how to go about it at all. what steps do i take to prep the pipes? is using Rust-Oleum heat resistant paint a good choice? how long do i let them dry for? the more details the better

cheers!!

I would recommend stove black rather than paint. I have been using it for 25 or so years on exhaust.

Welcome from Maryland. Try BBQ paint. Scuff it, clean it, and spray it.

I spray painted my V&H Big Radius 2-2s (pictured in my avatar above) with some generic heat resistant paint. Even sprayed over that eyesore of a badge and afterwards they looked and held up better than the original finish. Just scuffed them up with some 3M pads, sprayed the paint on in several thin coats and let em dry for about 24 hours.

Scuff 'em up with a scotch-brite pad and use a high temp grill paint. Follow the instructions on the can. That stuff dries pretty quick.
