2009 Nightster red key light on
I took a ride on my 2009 Nightster, shut it down and now it wont crank. red key light on, but I don't have an alarm. My battery is fully charged. I have checked all connections and everything is good. I have power to the start button and I have replaced the starter relay. Fuel pump does come on and everything looks normal except for the red key light in speedo. Any thoughts?

Two thoughts. 1 - Is it in neutral, does the neutral light come on? Did you try pulling in the clutch lever? 2 - I see your location is Guam. By chance does your bike have a kickstand/jiffy stand safety switch? Just my guesses. Good luck. I'm sure more people will post their suggestions / thoughts.

way too simple answers i know, but once or twice i must have gotten something else in my pocket against the button on my fob, because the security system would be on without my setting it (don't know if you're saying no alarm means nothing at all or just no proper alarm). once i saw the red light i finally figured to see if it was set, and it was.
then just recently it stayed on when i shorted a turn signal wire, but the bike started and ran though.

My red key light stays on 98% of the time now whenever the bike is running ('09 Super Glide). Code says it's the Security System Module (P/N 68925-07 for my bike).
Since the damned thing costs $240+, I've been riding with it like this for I guess a year now maybe a little less maybe a little more, can't remember. Either way, it's not hurting anything, bike starts up just fine, lights flash the alarm when I bump the bike and don't have the fob on me, so I'm not going to waste the money on something that's not essential for some reason but is worth so damn much money.

Do the signal lights continually flash as you try and start or disturb the bike? How old is the battery in your fob? They do need to be replaced before the voltage gets too low for the system recognize the presence of the fob.
You could try (if you know your PIN#) the sequence to disarm the security.
Just the first things that came to mind reading your post.
Good luck.
