Default Rumours about 14-15 year touring bikes

Im thinking of trading in my 2007 electra glide classic for a newer modle, but i herd there has been issues with the bewer bikes. Does anybody know if this is true? And what year is a good for a streetglide/electraglide in terms of reliability? Thx for the help and opinions

What issues? Pretty vague.

Other than the fact that the Bluetooth capabilities have been crippled by the MoCo, I haven't heard of any issues at all.

Anything 07 and up is your best bet. Anything before that is a cam chain nightmare you have to throw $1500 at. It will be as dependable as you make it.

OP is from Toronto. Maybe the cold weather in the great white north is affecting the newer models!??

That's your opinion. 88s are inexpensive, available with upgrade already done. I wouldn't trade my '03 for a Rushmore.

OP - read through the Touring Bike forum, especially the Rushmore section. I have a '13 SG and briefly considered an upgrade, but decided against it purely from a financial standpoint, not because of any problems on the newer bikes.

I did hear of some early issues with the twin-cooled bikes puking coolant, but those were apparently fairly rare and pretty much fixed by now. If I was up for spending the $$ I wouldn't hesitate to get a new tourer...

Exactly. When the liquid cooled models first came out there was a lot of talk about coolant leaks. I don't know anyone who had the issue, by the dealer I go to said they had seen a "few" bikes with the problem. I don't know what was done to resolve it, but no seems to be complaining now. They also had the recent recall on the saddle bags that can fall off. Just make sure that's been taken care of. I wouldn't let any of that stuff stop me for a second

I had a major issue with my '14. Bought a '15 and the pos has the same issue. I have to stop every 200 miles to put gas in the darn things.

I put 30,000 miles on them last year. No issues unless a old man having a blast is a issue!
