I thought I read there made by someone new.

i sure wish Harley would start using more of their products. just think how much better your bike would be. i know those panther belts don't last for **** though.

My work buys and sell their stuff all of the time. They're about 4x the price other bearings.

Ah but the labor cost associated with replacing an inferior bearing far exceed that. But, HD doesn't always have to pay that cost; many times it's on the customer after warranty.

Timken Bearings......they were a determining factor in why I bought a 2002 Fatboy. I believe this was the last year that Harley used Timken. I think they use Chinese bearings now.

many of the "name" parts are made in China now, and sorry China, but your metallurgy sucks. Bearings from China are pure crap from what I have seen in automotive applications. Suspension parts are not much better. THey nay be able to build electronics well, but they can't make anything out of metal that is going to last any length of time IMHO

Yes they do use cheap bearings now. My 84 FXRS has Timken bearings and I do not remember ever changing them. Just re pack with grease and change grease seal at tire changes. Those were the good old days.
