I live in Texas so I don't store my bike.

But, my recommendation is BEFORE storing your bike:

1. Change the oil. Changing all fluids would be best but the primary and tranny fluids is not critical.

2. Fill the gas to the brim and use StaBil. Leave as little air in the tank as possible.

3. Wash the bike.

4. Put battery on a tender.

I don't wash any of my motorcycles. I do sometimes wash myself after coming out of storage though.

I leave mine as dirty as possible so I can appreciate riding during the spring showers

Cleaning the bike is definitely best before you let it sit. Definitely.

You really should wash the bike if it's going to be sitting for months. If you don't, the layer of road grit with oil and whatnot in it will hold moisture. This can (not saying it will) cause some rusting or corrosion.

Luckily I don't store mine as I can ride all year. With that said if I did I would clean her up prior to storage, seems any grime, oil or whatever would be easier to clean now than months down the road. Not to mention that If I did have to store it for several months the last thing I would want to do is clean it before going on the first ride

Very well said!

The only thing we would add would be to run the bike for a couple minutes after adding STA-BILŪ to ensure the whole system is treated and protected for the winter.

Have a great day!

Yes. Because usually I put it away very shortly after my last ride. We have weird weather here in Wisconsin so it can go from 60 degrees (like yesterday) to snow. As such, there may be bugs on the bike. Not good for the paint to let those stay on too long. Definitely not over winter.

Yes, wash it and wax it. Just make sure it is completely dry before putting it away.
