Default First Time doing my own fluids change

Okay...I'll admit that I'm no where near being a mechanic but life changes have dictated that I do some of the basic stuff myself to save a little money.
In doing my first three-hole fluids change what do I need to be aware of beyond that of the instructions in my HD Service Manual?
I have a Red Craftsman MC Jack to get my '09 FLHT (52k miles) off the ground and the fluids.
Also thinking new spark plugs although there is no indication that they are needed.
Thanks for taking the time to indulge this moron.

Just follow your manual. Plugs are recommended at 10,000 miles.

Make sure you use the correct size torx bit.
Make sure it is fully seated before applying pressure.
Use a torque wrench.
Understand the difference in "inch pounds" and "foot pounds"

The most common issue with new mechanics is stripped bolts (both heads and threads).

The work itself is very straight forward and simple.

Sage advice-- Don't over tighten stuff.
Pretty easy, check Youtube for some videos

Take your time. Be patient. Don't force an issue. If you get pissed, walk away for a few minutes and try again. Profanity is expected.

Use the proper tools and have the best you can afford. Own the service manual.

You tube is an excellent tool. Search it and you'll have step by step instructions.

Make sure you take the correct plug out. Many threads where people remove the wrong one.

I recommend you loosen the screws holding the derby cover on before draining the primary. These torx screws can be a bitch and if they give you a problem with the oil drained you are stuck.

Don't ask how I know.

The toughest part will be letting the shame go when you realize how much money you've wasted paying a dealer to do something a monkey could do.

lol
