Default Just how much can you bore out a twin cam?

This is purely a hypothetical question in an attempt to educate myself. Although I'm sure someone will get offended at my ignorance...
To my understanding, the 110 is the largest in the line up right? And theoretically you could take the original 88 and turn it into a 110? I'm confused by what the 120 is, is it a 110 that has been bored out even more? Assuming time and money weren't an issue, and you had a bare bones 88, just how much could you increase its displacement before it was no longer possible to go any bigger?

A 143" engine is the biggest engine that I know of off hand, but that is achieved with stroke, and bore. I say biggest, because that is all that will fit in a stock frame, there probably is bigger, but again it is stroke, and that motor starts with a 96" base.

For straight bore, 3.937" diameter for 98". Any bigger requires a stroke increase, in which case how fast is your wallet? As Bill said above, 143" is out there ans I think I've seen bigger. A custom frame to put it in will be needed.

a 4" stroke motor can on be bored out to 98" Now you can install 4.125 or 4.250 cylinders if you want to case bore to fit the larger cylinder spigots, 107" or 113" displacement. Bigger than that you gotta put in a stroker crank. Then you can go 124" 131". Any bigger than that you gotta go with different cases. This is just from my memory, things could've changed or I could be mistaken too, LOL

Stock cases can go up to 4.125" (4-1/8") cylinders without issues. Some people have gone to 4.250" (4-1/4") without problems but there is the risk of weeping oil and pulled cylinder studs.

Aftermarket cases are a completely different animal.

"Aftermarket cases are a completely different animal." unfortunately, there are no aftermarket (non HD) cases for a B motor that I know of.
