I would like to buy 2013 FLS Slim from California. How they differ from bikes dedicated to the rest of USA states. I read that they have gas vapor filter. Is it all differences or are there more?

All I know is they sound different, like they're more choked up.

 

That is a good question that I would like to know the answer to also. Back when I lived in Cali and was into sport bikes there were California bikes and 49 state bikes. The difference between the two was mostly just carb jetting or mapping. There were probably other differences but I'm not exactly sure what they were.

 

Instead of having the old Potato-Potato-Potato sound of a Harley it sounds more like Avacado-Avacado-Avacado!

 

Fuel Evap canister (which requires a different fuel tank). The CA exhaust emission standard and all HD downloads are the same as the rest of the 49 states.

There is no enforcement protocol for individuals in place in CA. The bikes here are all modified at the same rate as the rest of the USA. Some aftermarket manufacturers have been hit by CARB but CARB has no jurisdiction over individuals. Owners of modified bikes are left alone.

 

They tend to lean to the left.

 

The evap can doesn't affect perfomance at all. No difference. But you cant register a non CA bike to CA unless it meets certain criteria

 

Why would the canister require a different tank?
It is connected to the vent line which connects the same to the tank as a 49 state bike.
