I just got a 2016 ultra low and I got the extended warranty on it. Did I waste my money.

Some say yes, some say no. I tend to lean towards the yes side.

It's optional insurance so to speak. If you are not the type to do all your own work then I don't think it was a waste. I bought it because I am not at the point where I have the time to do it myself. What time I have I want to actually ride. I definitely do want to get to that point but it wont be for a while. So for me, extending it a year (which also upgrades the first two factory years) was peace of mind.

Assume you are talking about ESP? I bought it once a few bikes ago. Never used it one stinking time. So I adjusted my thinking and didn't buy it on the next ones. I do know folks who have the tire portion and have never paid more than $50 for a new tire. Oddly enough they get a screw or nail in a tire just before the wear limits are up.

Why not rely on your factory warranty until it runs out? At that point you can buy ESP if you want or drive on. You don't have to buy it from your selling dealer. You can price shop and bargain shop among them all.

P.S. You can cancel it and get some $ back at any time.

As long as your not going to do a stage 1 or 2 upgrade you'll be fine.

Have had it on my last two bikes..................And if I buy another one I'll get it for that one as well. Whether its used or not, its good insurance in case its needed. You pay your home owners insurance and hope you dont need it...............Same with this.

If you tour a lot it pays to have the ESP..Why? Because if you break down from home regular Harley warranty does not cover Hotel, rental car, meals, etc. My buddies CVO blew and engine at 16k miles and he was four states from home..He's glad he had the ESP coverage..

Only cause the Lender requires it, also a big $$ difference in losing your $400,000.00 home to a fire vs fixing an oil leak on a Harley.
Insurance for me comes down to one simple rule: if you can't afford a major expense with the item then get the insurance, if you can, then pass...

To me it's a good investment.

IF, you ride many miles and/or end to keep your bike for a long time.

If you blow and engine or a tranny that would exceed the cost of the ESP even if you're close to home.
