Default Delmarva run

Is the Delmarva bike rally worth going to or just a waste of time? Thinking about bringing my wife...her first rally.

Default Delmarva

There are actually 2 separate events that take place that weekend. Delmarva bike week takes place at the inlet in ocean city and is a pay to attend event. Ocean city bike week (same weekend in September) is spread out in and around Ocean City and is all free to attend. This is a very enjoyable event lots of places to stay great places to eat and drink if desired. great riding in that area. the weather this past year was outstanding. I highly recommend this event especially since you are close. I would recommend securing a place to stay asap. you can PM me if you have questions about places you see on line. good luck

kberger, your facts are just a bit twisted. Delmarva Bike Week, started by Harley Davidson of Seaford and Ocean City has always been free. They are the event that has been drawing in vendors and crowds for 15 years. Ocean City Bike Fest is the pay to enter event. They are in their 5th or 6th year.
All that said, the event(s) has been growing since the first one held at Fort Whaley Campground on rt 50.
Lots of things to see and do, plenty of vendors and some good riding throughout the DelMarVa peninsula. Whether camping or staying in a hotel/motel, book early. The schedule for 2016 is September 15 through 18.

If you are looking for a lot of wet tshirts, burnouts, and such not he rally for you. If you want a great area, that is bike friendly, that has a great bunch of vendors, nice riding, good food and drink. then it i for you. As stated above, Delmarva Bike Week http://www.delmarvabikeweek.com/ has been around for a while last years was the 15th anniversary. They have vendors at the Baseball stadium in Salisbury and across the highway at Winter Place Park. They also have dealers at Rommels HD is Seaford, DE and Secrets in Ocean City. The other event is OC Bike Fest. www. bikefest.com Pay to enter the inlet with a few vendors and usually some pretty top notch music. Now for the rest of the area. OC Bike Fest also have a bunch of vendors at the Civic Center parking lot. That is free to get into and park. There are a bunch of other spots around the city of OC where vendors have set up. You can also enjoy the Bikes to the Beach group at the Hoopers Crab House just before you enter into OC on route 50, and there is another small area south of the rt 50 bridge that I can't remember the name at the moment. There is also a pretty good bus system that will get you from the hotels/motels to the bars and bike safely. Wife and I have been going for about the last 10 years or so and love it every year.

I've been to the September event several times and always had a nice time. I'm not into going some place to sit and drink. I prefer riding new roads and having new experiences. Go for it, you'll enjoy. Make your reservations early though. That should tell you something about the popularity of the event.

I have not gone to that particular rally for about the last 8 or 10 years. However I have gone to it 4 or 5 times in the past and the one issue I have is the cops in and around Ocean City. When I was there you literally could not ride more than half a mile without seeing police. And they were pulling guys over left and right.

I love ocean city I go every year.. I usually dont get hassled by the cops but then again I dont do anything stupid either.. last 8 years I was only pulled over once because my license plate had a tinted cover. Now I do get a escort by swat and task force but thats another story LMAO!

Over all it is a nice rally it has something for everyone there, Bikers, Weekend warriors, yuppies lol.. It is a nice ride to the vendor locations, boardwalk is ok not that great and plenty of vendors. We usually stay somewhere on the boardwalk. the inlet is a waste of cash unless you like the concert.

Cops are heavy just watch your speed and have a DOT helmet.

It's one we look forward to and attend each year since 2008. It's spread out and you actually ride to various locations.

Default Any other good fests and rallies on east coast?

I think I will go this year, I have never been. Buddies of mine usually rent a beach house and stay for the weekend.

The only vivid memory I have of ocean city is POLICE, police, and more police. But as long as you don't give them a reason to mess with you then you will be good.

I am also thinking about going to the Bikes to the Beach event April 29- May 1, 2016 https://www.oceancitybikestothebeach.com/

Are there any other good rallies and or fests along the east coast?

I know of a good little up and coming one in Colonial Beach, Va. http://colonialbeachbikefest.com/

Bring rain gear for Bikes to the beach. The weather is, temp wise, usually pretty good, but there is almost always rain.
