Default Speedometer/tach fuel distance issue.

I have a 2011 RKC I purchased a spun speedometer/tech. I noticed when I fill up it shows a distance of 157miles. But before with the old speedometer the distance would show between 220 to 230miles. So is my new speedometer fuel distance faulty? Will it eventually correct itself?

Look into the programming they are using to calculate the DTE. I'm guessing 2 different methods of calculating it. One may be using recent fuel consumption, the other may use a longer term fuel consumption number.

Quick question, did you ever get 230 miles on a tank?

Run a full tank through and determine what your MPG is. Then use it on a fill-up to manually calculate the DTE. Which figure does it com enclosed to?

Now do the same with a 1/4 tank empty and re-fill it. Which are you closer to?

The accuracy only really matters toward the end of the tank.

Mine also shows about 155 miles when full, then it shows 50 when the fuel light comes on but I've usually got 2 more gallons which is really 80 miles so it's not accurate. My tank should run around 200 miles on the Fatboy. I've learned not to trust it and I zero the trip when I fill up.

I have 6 gallon tank and used to get around 200 to 230 miles on a full tank.

So today was my 3rd time filling up and it read 208miles. So I guess it has to recalibrated itself.

Keep checking the DTE after each fill up. You will eventually know what the max is +/- 5 miles.

I have a Heritage with a 5 gallon tank and the most I see for DTE is 172 - 178 miles. I am on fumes when DTE reads 25 miles. Don't ask how I know.

When my dte reads 0 I still have 2 gallons in my 6 gallon tank. I get close to 50 mpg on the highway so the guys I ride with usually have to fill up before me anyway but when I'm alone I still use the low fuel light as a fill up at next station reminder.

My 09 fuel gauge never worked right but the range miles to empty was always close. Just like my GM truck though when the tank gets low it is overly optimistic on the range. I continually rode it down to single digits on the highway. The light would always come on when there was one gallon left. The range depended on how I was riding it. On the highway I could pull 200+ out before a refill.

+1...same results here. When fueling up pay attention to how many gals it takes and look at your mileage, then reset the trip meter. You'll figure it out.

My speedo/tach I believe adjust the DTE as the fuel is used.
I believe it re-calculates/calibrates constantly just like cars do.

I'm not sure what it reads at fill-up but when the low fuel light comes on Ive got about 60 miles left and when DTE reads 0 miles I generally have about a 30 miles left and that's very constant so that's fine for me.
I consider the extra 30 miles as reserve.
