Default Wife rider - small feet. Need help!

Hey there...

I got my wife a 2015 Sportster 48. Her first motorcycle. It's been a blast.

Problem is, she has small feet and can not really get a bead onto the rear brake pedal. HD sells a "reduced reach kit", but that appears to only address shorter legs, not small feet.

Anyone out there with experience on how to get around this problem?

Thanks much

Dan and Pam

What exactly is small feet causing difficulty with? I can see short legs being a problem, but I don't understand small feet being a problem?

I've seen brake pedals on some touring bikes that have a very large pad on it. Maybe...you can get one or find a large brake pedal pad for her bike.

Her foot is not long enough to firmly plant itself on the brake pad. Got any ideas?

if the bigger pedal doesnt work you may be able to get the front brake lever be modified to be the rear brake also.

I have to agree with Prot.

The Forty-Eight has forward mount controls. Her legs are likely too short not a small foot. If her foot doesn't seem long enough, it is because the brake pedal is too far away. In that case, the reduced reach kit will help her. Even better would be mid controls but I don't know if they are available for the Forty-Eight. That's like saying my fingers are too short to get a good grip on the brake lever. A bigger lever isn't going to help. Move the brake lever closer and it can be reached.

If you don't think the brake pedal is too far away, how can she not get the ball of her foot onto the pedal (with or without having to raise her leg)?

How tall is she and what size foot does she have?

Send her over to the Queens section, some of the other women might have some answers. She can get her own username and start posting.

And for both of you, join us in the Florida Crew, not sure where you are in Fl but we are quite a busy part of the forum in Events Rides and Road Reports.

Is it not reaching at all or is it slipping off the pedal when she tries to use the brakes?

Possibly, she needs to put a little more easy back road riding time, or huge empty weekend parking lot time in to learn how to orient herself with the controls being the bikes brakes, clutch, and getting accustomed to protective gear such as helmet, etc. while putting all this together.

Blast for you, but possibly an unsaid truth for her. I never heard of a kid or any adult being with this problem, maybe it's you wanting too much from your mate. You get her killed and shes gone...On You! And it will stick big time!!!
