Default Not a heritage verse road king thread

They fellow bikers after spending many hours on the forum I have gained a lot of helpful knowledge and also read some entertaining stories, finally joined. I rebuilt a 74 sporty in my younger day.last 2 Harleys I had were a 99 dyno lowrider ,loved the throttle response and nimbleness.. The other was a 01 road king which I just never felt at home on for some reason..so its been 15 years out of the saddle .ready to jump back on one last time.. The dreams never stopped.. Ready to cashz out my little 401 and checking out a 2010 heritage ,16850 miles . 2nd owner has added speakers and engine guard, other than that seems to be stock.asking 9500..only thing that somewhat bothers me he said he has had it for almost 3 years but no p.maint.records. claims not enough miles put on .way he talked garage trophy..he was more proud of the speakers than anything. This will probably be my last bike purchase due to age and financial resources.. Tell me what y'all think

Well, just about anything is possible. I bought a 2001 Heritage in 2014 with only 11,900 miles on it and paid $5500. I took it to the dealer for inspection and the 10K maintenance and the only thing he found was a crimped front fender light wire....

Go To a dealership and test ride a Dyna, and a Heritage, and a Road King,
and then you will be equipped to make the right choice, as which one you
like best. If this is going to be your last bike then you owe it to yourself to
make the right choice.

I don't know how old you are, but cashing out your 401K for a bike is not a smart move.

If your buying it to be your last bike, the Heritage would be my choice. Since when old age sets in, the smaller lighter Heritage will extend your riding years longer than the massive Road King. It's a lot easier to drop a Road King, and a lot easier to hold up a Heritage in your twilight years. But, as always, buy what makes you happy.

How tall 'n heavy are you?

How's your back?

Of course there's the styling difference. Which do you prefer...look wise?

And then there is the seating difference...how you sit. You'll often hear "You sit IN a Softail...and you sit ON a Glide/Dyna/etc". The seat on a Softail is a bit lower so you sit more in the bike than on top. I actually like that position...it's more like you're in a lazy boy recliner going down the road. For me...that works...I'm 6'5" and 210 lbs and have a very bad lower back. So I'm quietly selling my FLH and looking for an Evo powered Softail...like a Heritage or Springer.

But that's ME..and my tastes. And I like the more old school look you can get with a Heritage over a newer FL glide.
