Default U-haul Motorcycle Trailer advice requested

Hey all,
I'm going to be moving here in a few weeks and I plan on renting a u-haul motorcycle trailer to tow my Softail Slim to the new place, which isn't that far away. I have my bike sitting in the garage fully winterized. I was wondering if any of you could offer me some advice to loading the motorcycle, if you are familiar with the u-haul style trailer? I only have experience loading a bike into a pickup from a raises loading dock. I do intend on experimenting with my Honda 250 before loading the Slim. Any input would be great! Thanks

Whether either in a pickup bed or on a trailer the steps taken to load and tie down a motorcycle are the same. Strap it down. It's not rocket science.

From whay I have seen, you should be able to push (or ride) your motorcycle up the ramp onto the trailer and into the chock at the front of the trailer, if you get the trailer that U Haul has that is specifically for motorcycle hauling.

U-haul rents a motorcycle trailer suited for the job, very low with a long ramp and for a real reasonable cost

The U Haul motorcycle trailer is really slick. You should be able to push your bike up the ramp without having to start it. The front wheel "chock" is wide enough that you can rest the bike on its side stand with the wheel in it while you hook up the tie downs. Once you use that trailer, you'll never want to haul your bike in a pickup again.

The 3 choices I see...

*Get the low motorcycle trailer and make a separate trip for just the bike (you say it's not far away)

*If you don't want to spend the money on a trailer just for the bike...and you don't want to start the bike and ride it up the ramp into the UHaul truck/van....get a few people to help you wheel the bike up the ramp (and back down at the destination).

*Seriously...how long does de-wintering the bike take? Fire it up and ride it up the ramp into the truck. get people to help you wheel it down at destination...or trust yourself to duck foot it down the ramp solo.

..OK..4th choice...de winterize it and ride it to your new home. Winter ain't deep set yet.

I used the U-Haul MC trailer when I traded in my old Softail earlier in the year. It wasn't registered/insured so I didn't want to chance riding it. The trailer is awesome. The "tailgate" folds down to make a nice gradual ramp, I just rode right up it. Unloading I just rolled off sitting on the bike.

They could charge twice the price they do & it would still be a bargain.

Should have no issues. I used an U-haul MC trailer to being mine home from the dealership.

used one of these to haul a new indian from chandler, az back to central utah. you'll like it, has about 24 tiedown rings you can use. the long low ramp is a plus.

I just used one last month running the bike over to the painter - make sure you get their motorcycle trailer, it's a low profile, full ramp and has the wheel chock in the front - pretty simple on & off loading - make sure you tie the bike off in 4 points - I think it was $20 for the 1/2 day
