You either don't have the throttle handle pushed up tight to the switch housing OR you broke the head off the switch, very common mistake. And PITA to fix.

Gotta use an 1/8" "shim" in between the brake lever and it's mount to keep from breaking the switch. I use an Allen key.

Did you read the Harley Davidson service manual before removing the controls from the handlebars? IIRC, the manual for my '04 says that I need to wedge something like a small piece of cardboard between the lever and the brake light switch plunger to keep it depressed while the control is removed in order to keep it in place. You may have to buy a new front brake light switch. The plunger on mine is tiny and fragile.
ETA: Beat me to it by one minute.

I wouldn't touch anything unless I go through the manual because you can come up against so many issues if you don't read the fine print. There could be a workaround that one of the long time owners may have come up with.

Seems like people having issues after changing out their bars is more common than just about any other mod ....

I've been lucky, I've swapped bars, grips, cables and because I've read up on it or looked in the manual by just being careful I've never broken a switch.
Hope you get it worked out.
