Default WD-40 for cable lube?

So, I'm currently living in Germany and can not aerosol cans to my APO box. The BX does not carry cable lube and will not order it. Don't really want to pay German prices as it is high, unless I have too. Can I use WD40 as a cable lube?
Thanks!

I have used it to lube cables alot of times. TIP: use less than you think you need, it is thin and will run down inside your cable and run out all over

WD-40 is a lot thinner than cable lube/grease. It evaporates quickly and will likely not stay in the cable for long. If the cable was sticking due to corrosion/rust WD-40 would help break it free but I would not use it as a lube replacement.

You should look into a non-aerosol cable lube. Also, check and make sure your APO box accepts petroleum products.

WD-40 attracts dirt. I wouldn't use it. But that's my opinion

WD-40 is not a lube.

It does attract dirt. Maybe at first it will free up the cable but in the long run it's not a good idea. There must be some kind of powdered graphite product you can get, like Dri-Slide or something like that.

You need Dri-Slide do not use WD-40 except as a last resort, most don't know it but WD-40 becomes sticky once the solvent base dries out. Find a local import or scooter shop and buy there.

How about a little 3 in 1 oil?

I wouldn't.

A can of proper lube lasts a very long time indeed. If German pricing is an issue, can you partner up with 2-3 other riders and chip in on a can of Motion Pro or something ? You'd all be set for years.
