aftermarket parts from insurance claim
So today when i was parked, a guy was backing up and he knocked over my bike. It left some good scratches on my oem bags and engine guard. Also scratched up my performance machine grips as well. What i want to know is how can i get a quote to fix the stuff, but then replace with aftermarket parts. Is this possible? Thanks

I had the same thing happen to my bike this past summer. Take it to the dealer and have them do an assessment of the damages. The driver's insurance company will have an adjuster do the same thing. You will be amazed at the things they will identify as damage. As an example, my tail light had a rub mark about the size of an eraser head. They paid for a replacement. Anyway, use whichever of the two (dealer or insurance Co) has the higher claim, and have his insurance cut you a check. Spend the money on whatever parts you like.

I had this happen to me. I took the bike to the dealer and they charged either $100 or $150 for an estimate. They did identify a lot of tiny marks that you would normally have on a bike with 20,000 miles along with the major damage. The kids insurance agent could not write me a check fast enough including the cost I paid for the estimate. I think he was worried I was going to sue
I fixed the bike myself for about 1/4 of what the estimate was
