Default Motor clearance to seatpost?

So i got my s&s motor....rear rocker cover is very very close to seatpost on the left side rear cylinder...before i heat it up and start whacking it....how much clearance is required for an 88" evo?...id say there is only about thickness of 3 pieces of printing paper....anyone know?.......i know once this is painted right now it will probably hit the rocker cover....thanks for any input from you guys

I've had to flatten that tube in frames before and the motor will grow about .080" or more when hot, gone at 2 ways. The old heat & hammer method and cutoff wheel to take a chunk out and weld in a flat bar but I'd only suggest that one on a stock frame with the heavier wall tubing. Just don't grind it out like some knuckle heads I've had the repair did on the long frames it's a guaranteed break waiting to happen.

think 1/8 inch after paint is enough?....thats bout what i got....can you put the growth of the motor in inches so a dumbass like me can understand?...im pretty good with steel as far as working it...i think i might just cut out the seatpost with a notch...1/2 inch wide 1/2 inch long...add flatbar...recess the flatbar in deep and weld it with filler and bury it with alot of weld...flatten the flatbar area...should give me alot more room....id like to see 1/4 inch behind it....then again flattening the rocker cover a bit also ran across my mind....lol its not alot more i need...i have an 1/8 inch as it sits.....after paint

Don't mess with the rocker cover , those are a nice setup and not a lot of meat there and they warp easy. If you can keep a solid 1/8" clearance it should be good on the downtube and doesn't look like you'll have any issues with the backbone squeezing things with that frame LOL

They will distort if they rub or are ground on S&S stuff is nice clean precision fit and they are smidge smaller that stock evo boxes I think, been a while since I played with one.
